Betty Boop Nurse

Betty Boop wore many hats as a cartoon character. One of them happened to be a nurse’s hat. Nowadays, the Betty Boop nurse motif crops up again and again in Boop memorabilia. Figurines, statues, and other Betty Boop kitsch come up with a myriad ways of presenting Betty in white nurse garb.

For starters, there is a 12 inches by 12 inches oblong tin that you can hang on a wall of your home. It pictures Betty Boop in a nurse outfit with a stethoscope around her neck and the old-fashioned doctor’s headpiece that sports a mirror reflector. This tin has a health message, too. Next to Betty is an ashtray, out of which arises a plume of smoke shaped like a ghost. Above this Betty Boop nurse are the words “No Smoking, Please.”

A wide variety of other items commemorate Betty as a nurse. There is a watch whose white clock face has a prominent picture at its center of Betty in nurse garb. This particular watch has additional distinguishable features besides: a handsome cream-coloured leather strap, and a peripheral row of 24 hour-marks on its clock face to delineate military time, in addition to standard 12 hour-marks to delineate civilian time.

You can liven up your kitchen table with a pair of salt-and-pepper shakers. The saltshaker is shaped as a bust of Betty with a nurse’s hat. As for the peppershaker, it’s a medical bag with a Red Cross logo on its side.

For real-life doctors and nurses who like Betty Boop, there are bona fide medical products that memorialize the starlet. For instance, one could buy a white stethoscope ID tag whose fob is illustrated with a colorful image of Betty in a nurse outfit and a giant syringe in hand. This fits right onto a stethoscope to identify its owner.

A nurse could also make do with a Betty Boop sphygmomanometer (blood-pressure reader). It’s a working device complete with range markings, an artery label, and gauge holder. Its distinguishing feature is the blue latex inflatable system, which is decorated with pictures of Betty, Pudgy, and red heart symbols.
