Fishing Rod Cases

As a fisherman, you depend on your rod and reel. No matter how skilled you might be, you won’t catch anything if they aren’t in working order. That’s why the wise thing for you to do is to take every reasonable measure to keep your equipment safe from damage while on dry land. One of the best measures you can take is to store them in a fishing rod case.

Fishing rod cases can be plastic, metal, or fibreglass, among other solids. They serve the vital purpose of securing your rod from getting squished or stepped on while it’s sitting in a closet at home. They also make transporting the rod en route to a business or vacation destination much less stressful—there’s no telling what condition your rod could end up in if you stash it away in your suitcase, but the solid layer of protection of a fishing rod case will make sure that no harm befalls it.

A fishing rod case will even keep your rod safer when you’re out on the water. Should you slip and drop a rod into the water uncovered, it might suffer some rust or water damage. But if it’s sealed up in its case, it could fall into the water and come back up unscathed. Not to mention it’ll be much easier to retrieve—fishing rods don’t float back up to the water surface, but many cases do.

Fishing rod cases are easy to find. Any store that sells fishing-related equipment is likely to carry them. The task of picking one out will be easier, though, if you have a case-friendly rod—i.e., one that consists of several detachable sections. Such a rod is a lot easier to fit. If your rod is one solid pole, however, then you’re going to need to find a case that’s long enough to fit it. Since some rods are 10 feet or more in length, that can be a very “tall” order.

Some fishing enthusiasts get around this problem by building their own fishing rod cases at home. This is very doable. Cull together a long metal pipe that is six inches longer than your fishing rod. Add an end cap to one end and a screw cap to the other end. Cement the end cap shut. Once it dries, you’ll be able to slip the pole into the tube and carry it anywhere.
