Does your youngster entertain thoughts of being a world-famous chef one day? Give him or her some practice courtesy of the Little Tikes Country Kitchen, a play kitchen that gets sterling reviews for durability, ambience, and just plain fun.

You get everything you’d expect to find in a real kitchen: microwave, stove with range top, sink, dishwasher, cupboard, coffee maker, and phone (all make-believe, of course). The cabinet is a decent storage area, enclosed by doors that have see-through window panes for a kid to peek inside.

To the right of the cabinet is a window patterned after the windows on the cabinet doors. Kids can look through its panes just like they might look out the windows of a real kitchen. The refrigerator, located underneath the cabinet, has three shelves inside, plus an icemaker on the front of the door. The icemaker’s small lever turns up or down with the flick of a hand.

The Little Tikes Country Kitchen is ideal for ages 2 to 8. It’s available in two different colour schemes: one with teal counters and one with blue counters. Both have creamy-white side panels; yellow Victorian window, sink, upper cabinet, and dishwasher rack; pink faucet; and aqua phone and phone cradle. Complementary stickers allow for even more splashes of colour, should your kid choose to use them.

Decals attach to the microwave’s control panel to create the image of a look-alike microwave touch pad and timer. More decals go on the dishwasher, which has a knob that turns to any of three “wash cycles.” The dishwasher also includes a dishwasher rack that you can take out and re-install. A few additional decals are for the oven—three decals to replicate three burners. This oven’s real features include two shelves and a control panel with four knobs, each of which clicks to “turn” a burner on and off (with no actual flames or heat).

While a kid is pretend-cooking or pretend-microwaving, he or she can brew some pretend coffee with the coffee pot situated below the microwave. This coffee pot slides along grooves that secure it with a yellow decanter.

The Little Tikes Country Kitchen is an ample kitchen at 54 inches long and 21.25 inches wide. It’s up to you whether you wish to place it against a wall or let it stand on its own in the centre of the room. The model layout works well either way. 28VX6ZVXNN85
